Beedie leading the way in BC’s Northwest

New MBA is geared towards Northwest BC Industries.

SFU’s Beedie School of Business continues to develop and deliver MBA specializations to meet emerging needs in emerging markets. And in a brand new locale, the market is responding enthusiastically.

Beedie’s Executive MBA in Northwestern BC (EMBA NW) is an inaugural MBA to address the new and existing industries which are in the headlines every day. Taught in Prince Rupert, the EMBA NW focuses on key regional industries: extractive resources, liquefied natural gas, engineering, and their related industries.

Starting on October 1, the EMBA NW already has 27 students ready for their 36-month program. The degree’s program gives regional residents the management skills they need to participate in the booming new economy – while they continue to work at the same time.

“Prince Rupert’s economy is a key hub of global trade networks,” says Dr. Mark Selman, director of the program. “As the economy changes, opportunities – and the expectations of employees – both increase and become increasingly important. Beedie’s new Northwest MBA degree is more than ready to meet those market needs.”

The specialized MBA, with flexible entry qualifications, is tailored for students facing global competition for jobs, and to provide northwest BC workers with management skills for a changing business environment.

The three-year program will be taught by Beedie’s world-class faculty, who will travel to teach classes at Northwest Community College. The degree allows students to work full-time, completing projects and assignments through virtual classrooms.
