Beedie undergraduates prominent in Surrey Top 25 Under 25

Beedie School of Business students again featured prominently in this year’s Surrey Board of Trade’s Top 25 Under 25 Awards.
The annual awards, now in their fifth year, recognize business and community minded people under the age of 25 who are either working in Surrey or engaged in projects in or for the city, and are considered role models for the community.
The winners were presented with their awards at a ceremony, at which SFU was a co-presenting sponsor, held at Eaglequest Golf Course, Surrey, on May 28.
The list of 2015 Beedie recipients include:
Rhythm Tang, manager of Hunger Actions, a four-week interactive workshop series that empowers low-income families in Metro Vancouver with the knowledge to lead a healthy lifestyle on a tight budget;
Ridge Pinto, an SFU co-op student and recipient of the Royal Bank of Canada’s Students Leading Change Scholarship. Specializing in entrepreneurship and finance, Pinto is currently working as a Microsoft intern;
Rizwan Qaiser, research assistant in the Beedie School, and founding president of SFU’s Interdisciplinary Entrepreneurship Association (IdEA), which focuses on multi-disciplinary collaboration through entrepreneurship, and enables students to collectively become innovators;
Lourence Singh, financial ambassador for the SOAR Philanthropic Society, and logistics manager for Soap for Hope, a new venture that up-cycles used soap and employs marginalized people in the Downtown Eastside;
Kanwalnain Grewal, host of a radio show on South Asian station RED 93.1FM, and engaged as a student volunteer and community leader.
“For the fifth consecutive year, Beedie School of Business undergraduates are well represented in this prestigious award – a testament to the impact our students have on the community of Surrey,” says Casey Dorin, Executive Director of Undergraduate Programs at the Beedie School of Business.
“We are extremely proud of the achievements of our students, and I am sure this award is not the last one these promising young business men and women will receive throughout their careers.”
The Beedie recipients were joined on the list of winners by five other SFU students who have demonstrated their Surrey community-minded engagement through volunteerism, social innovation, and business impact.
