Blaize Horner Reich with “Best Paper of 2007”

Professor Blaize Reich’s paper in the Project Management Journal titled “Managing knowledge and Learning in IT projects: a conceptual framework and guidelines for practice” has been selected as the best paper of 2007.

Dr. Reich’s paper recognizes that highly uncertain projects require an approach that focuses on learning and effectively creates, integrates, and transfers knowledge to develop unique solutions. She develops a framework that can help organizations identify the key areas within their information technology (IT) projects where knowledge-based risks occurs. By anticipating and managing these risks, project managers can increase their chance of success with complex IT projects.

The Project Management Journal is the research publication for the Project Management Institute (www.pmi.org) which has more than 260,000 members in more than 171 countries and is the leading membership association for the project management profession globally. The Project Management Journal is a peer-refereed academic and research quarterly of PMI and features state-of-the-art management techniques, research, theories and applications.

The award will be presented at the 2008 PMI Research Conference in Warsaw, Poland July.
