CKNW CEO Series set to return to Beedie School of Business
Mar 05, 2013
The Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University and prominent Vancouver radio station CKNW News Talk 980 are teaming up once more this spring to bring leadership and entrepreneurship insights from some of Canada’s foremost business minds to SFU.
“The Chief Executives” program will bring a selection of the country’s top executives – ranging from Canadian airline WestJet to fashion giant Aritzia – to SFU’s downtown Vancouver campus in an exclusive series of interviews.
Hosted by respected CKNW radio host Bill Good, the highly successful series will feature eight CEOs in total, as Good engages with them during a series of intimate one-hour interviews, broadcast live in front of SFU students, alumni and the business community. Good’s on-air guests will share their experiences in fostering leading brands and companies, including how they started and the underpinnings of their career successes.
The 2013 series will commence on Thursday, March 14 at SFU Harbour Centre with Warren Roy, founder and CEO of Vancouver compliance messaging provider Global Relay.
Subsequent broadcasts will feature Margot Micallef, CEO of franchising giant Subway Devco; Mike Waites, CEO of Finning International; Jonathan Whitworth, CEO of Seaspan; John Walker, CEO of Fortis; Tracy Redies, CEO of Coast Capital Savings; Greg Saretsky, CEO of Westjet; and Brian Hill, CEO of Aritzia.
The spring series will build on the winning formula established in 2012, where the revelatory hour-long interviews were first broadcast in front of a live audience at the Segal Graduate School.
Last season’s series, hosted for the first time by the Beedie School of Business, included notable business leaders Ryan Holmes of Hootsuite; Jim Treliving of Boston Pizza and Mr. Lube; Angus Reid of Vision Critical; Tom Gaglardi of Northlands Property Group and owner of the Dallas Stars; Jacqui Cohen of Army and Navy; Karen Flavelle of Purdy’s Chocolates; Brian Scudamore of 1-800-Got-Junk; and Christine Day of Lululemon.
The CEOs shared with the audience valuable insights into their business success and leadership, as well as revealing personal anecdotes illustrating how they got where they are today.
“The Chief Executives” will be aired at SFU Harbour Centre and the Segal Graduate School. The CEO Series is open to the public; registration is required.
