Oct 31, 2012
Mila Lazarova, an Associate Professor of international business at Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of Business, has been appointed as Canada Research Chair in Global Workforce Management.
Canada Research Chairs are university research professorships which promote scholarship excellence, the creation of world-class centres of research, and the enhancement of Canada’s competitiveness in the global economy.
Dr. Lazarova, who is also the Director of SFU’s Centre for Global Workforce Strategy, joined the Beedie School of Business in 2002 from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, where she received her PhD. Her research focuses on expatriate management, global and boundaryless careers, international mobility practices, and comparative human resource management.
Given the implications of global mobility for personal well-being, skill development, knowledge accumulation and transfer, network development and ultimately, organizational competitiveness, Dr. Lazarova’s work is relevant to both organizations and their employees.
“Mila is a scholar of international reputation and this award is a well-deserved recognition of her excellence,” said Daniel Shapiro, Dean of SFU’s Beedie School of Business.
“With this federal funding, chairholders will improve our depth of knowledge and quality of life, strengthen Canada’s international competitiveness and train the next generation of highly skilled people,” said Chad Gaffield, President of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and Chair of the Canada Research Chairs Steering Committee.
