PwC Canada creates student study space at SFU Beedie
Nov 21, 2014
A $125,000 gift from PwC Canada will create a state-of-the-art study space for students at Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of Business.
The new 1,400-square foot PwC Canada study space is located on the Burnaby campus on the main floor of the West Mall Centre. Renovations provided modern desks and seating for up to 80 students, and are configured to encourage team and individual study. There are also electrical capabilities for plug-in laptops and improved accessibility to SFU’s wireless server.
Says James Davidson, Senior Manager, Campus Talent Acquisition at PwC: “SFU has one of the largest undergraduate business programs in western Canada, and we’ve worked closely with the school for a number of years.
“SFU attracts 3,500 students annually and a quarter of them study accounting. These students are the future of the profession and it’s our pleasure to support their learning experience, so they can be prepared to excel in their careers and give back to the community.”
Says Dr. Blaize Horner Reich, Dean of SFU’s Beedie School of Business: “PwC has been a keen employer of our graduates and co-op students for years. They have engaged with us as advisors, mentors and speakers in the classroom. Having this new space that is so centrally located among our undergraduate students strongly acknowledges the value of this relationship.”
