Oct 08, 2021
The 2022 Maclean’s rankings have named Simon Fraser University in the top 10 in Canada for business programs, with a 10th place finish. This represents a significant improvement over last year’s 13th place ranking. Maclean’s influential annual rankings evaluate programs based on their reputation for quality and research strength, drawn from surveys of more than 1,200 faculty and senior administrators at universities across Canada. Maclean’s also ranked SFU joint first in the comprehensive university category, continuing an impressive run for the university which has been at number one for 13 of the past 14 years.
“This strong ranking performance reflects a great deal of hard work by so many faculty and staff at SFU Beedie,” says Carolyn Egri, dean pro tem at SFU Beedie. “I thank and congratulate everyone in the school, and look forward to gaining further recognition for our efforts in future years.”
This news is the latest in a series of strong ranking performances for SFU recently. Times Higher Education (THE) announced that Simon Fraser University is tied as the 8th top-ranked university in Canada for 2022. SFU is also ranked among the world’s top 50 universities in the 2021 THE Impact Rankings, which measure environmental, social and economic contributions toward meeting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs. The World’s Universities with Real Impact (WURI) rankings measure how universities create value for society; this year’s rankings place SFU 3rd in the world for our entrepreneurial spirit and 24th globally among innovative universities, making SFU the number one innovative university in Canada—and the only one to crack the global top 100.
