Yuen Pau Woo appointed Senior Resident Fellow for Beedie’s Jack Austin Centre

Yuen Pau Woo, Senior Resident Fellow at the Jack Austin Centre for Asia Pacific Business Studies.

The Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University has announced the appointment of Yuen Pau Woo as Senior Resident Fellow for the Jack Austin Centre for Asia Pacific Business Studies.

Woo has over 25 years experience in strategy and policy for business, government and not-for-profit organizations. He is widely recognized as a leading thinker on Asian economic issues and Canada-Asia relations, and is a recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Award, in recognition of his contribution to Canada-Asia relations.

He recently completed his third and final term as President and CEO of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, and is continuing his association with the organization in the role of Distinguished East Asia Fellow.

“Pau is an exceptional advocate for and contributor to Canada Asia relations,” said Sudheer Gupta, Director of the Jack Austin Centre for Asia Pacific Business Studies. “He has already contributed immensely to the Centre’s research, and we look forward to continuing to make use of the wealth of knowledge on Asia Pacific affairs that he possesses.”

Woo has served on the Standing Committee of the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council, and as an advisor/consultant to the World Bank, APEC, the OECD, Asian Development Bank, the Shanghai WTO Affairs Consultation Centre, and the Canadian Ditchley Foundation.

He is also on the Global Council of the Asia Society, a member of the Greater Vancouver Advisory Board for the Salvation Army, and a board member of the Public Policy Forum, the Vancouver Academy of Music, and the Mosaic Institute.

The Beedie School of Business hosts the Jack Austin Centre for Asia Pacific Business Studies in partnership with the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada. The Centre carries out research, outreach and training activities on business issues that are relevant to Canada’s interests in the Asia Pacific region. It was named to recognize former member of the Canadian Senate Jack Austin’s exceptional contribution to Canada-Asia relations.
