Beedie School of Business Executive MBA alumna Dr. Amiee Chan has been named on the Women’s Executive Network’s annual Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 list. The award marks the second consecutive year that Chan has been recognized on this prestigious list.

Chan, who is President & CEO of satellite communications company Norsat, is selected in the Scotiabank Corporate Executive category, which recognizes women who are not only key leaders, but whose innovative and strategic minds allow them to enhance the corporate performance of their organizations.

After graduating from the Beedie Executive MBA program in 2003, Chan took on the top position at Norsat in 2006, and has since more than tripled the company’s revenue and substantially expanded its product portfolio.

She is a member of the Beedie School of Business Dean’s Advisory Board, where she advises the Dean and faculty on strategy, and assists the school in the accomplishment of its mission and objectives.

The honour is the latest in a string of awards for Chan. She recently received the ViaSatellite 2013 Excellence Award for “Woman in Technology”; was named in the Top 25 Women of Influence list; and placed in the top ten of Profit/Chatelaine’s list of Canada’s Top Female Entrepreneurs.

The Women’s Executive Network (WXN) Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards celebrates the professional achievements of strong female leaders across the country in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.

Over the past decade WXN has honoured 653 women in the Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards, and inducted 88 women into the Hall of Fame. The Beedie School of Business is Co-Partner of the Top 100 Awards, and National Education Partner of the WXN.
