Feb 20, 2009

Burnaby, BC (February 17, 2009) – Milun Tesovic, Co-Founder of “Metroleap Media Inc.” and full time student at Simon Fraser University, has been named the 2009 British Columbia Student Entrepreneur Provincial Champion by national charitable organization, Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship “ACE” and proud program supporter, CIBC.

Since 2004, Milun, a Business Administration student, has co-founded, owned and operated “Metroleap Media Inc.” which hosts a music lyric website (www.metrolyrics.com) that provides music lovers with the written lyrics to their favourite songs. The 22-year-old hatched the idea when he was 16 as a way to earn money to buy a car. According to Suite101.com, MetroLyrics had more online hits than the CBC, Canoe and even the federal government and now ranks 419th worldwide. Milun was recently named SFU’s first Student Entrepreneur of the Year.

Operating “Metroleap Media Inc.” has provided Milun with the opportunity to:

  • Create a market and revenue stream for the music industry
  • Be named the 2nd largest music website online as of January 2009 (Source: Hitwise)
  • Reach 32 million visitors per month
  • Grow by 8% – month over month

“Programs such as ACE help to encourage student entrepreneurs to become the best that they can be,” comments Milun. “This competition gives entrepreneurs like me experience by gaining potential national and international exposure”.

The regional round of competition will take place at the 2009 ACE Regional Exposition in Calgary, Alberta on February 27, 2009. Provincial Champions will each present their business to a live panel of business professionals who will decide the two Regional Champions, who will each receive a $1,000 cash prize and move on to the final round of competition taking place at the 2009 ACE National Exposition in Toronto on May 6th, 2009. The National Champion will be named and will receive a $10,000 cash prize and represent Canada at the international level of competition, the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards, if he or she qualifies.

“Given the changing economy student entrepreneurs are being forced to take on new challenges to ensure their businesses thrive” says Amy Harder, President of ACE. “ACE provides an experience that strengthens and supports student development to create a more sustainable and enterprising Canada.”
