Jul 03, 2009

SFU Business students Courtney Eng, Lael Locher and Andrew Clements competed in the Singapore Apex Global Business Competition and came inches away from 1st place walking away with trophies and prizes for first runner up. Among a competitive field of 16 teams from 11 countries in four divisions, teams were given just 24 hours to develop a solution to problems facing real world energy company Vestas, a Danish wind turbine company.

Judging was international and included half a dozen senior executives from Vestas and others industry professionals from companies such as McKinsey, Accenture and Tata.

Inspired and based upon SFU’s premier MIS CaseIT (now in its sixth year), APEX has a technical focus and despite its inaugural year was flawlessly executed. The competition was not just educational and challenging but also fun. According to faculty coach and team mentor Peter Tingling “the team were fantastic. Fueled by adrenalin and no sleep for more than 24 hours I could not believe the quality of what was delivered”.
