SFU students make big impact at MBA Games

Jan 17, 2011

A team of Master of Business Administration students from Simon Fraser University were the top-ranked British Columbia team at the 2011 MBA Games, held in Toronto from January 7 to 9, 2011. The SFU team ultimately placed fourth overall out of 20 of the top MBA programs across Canada. The group of 39 full-time and Management of Technology MBA students travelled to Toronto for the university’s triumphant return to the highly regarded competition.

“The success of this year’s SFU MBA team speaks to the strength of the class cohort,” said Colleen Collins, Associate Dean & Academic Director, Graduate Program at SFU Business. “Part of this is also about supporting student life. This is enhancing the experience for MBA students while they are here. There are also huge benefits in terms of team building.”

Since 1988, the National MBA Games have been an annual Canada-wide competition that brings together MBA students from across the country. There are three major areas of competition: academic, athletic, and spirit. The Games are the largest gathering of MBA students in Canada.

Funding for the SFU team’s successful outing was provided in part by the Dean’s Circle, a new fund at SFU Business to support the top priorities of the school each year.
