A new video-based social media campaign from Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of Business will underscore the rich student life that flourishes at the West Coast institution. The initiative, entitled Experience Beedie, will deliver video profiles of Beedie undergraduate and graduate students to venues such as YouTube and Facebook. The first videos produced are profiles of undergraduate student Jevta Lukic, and MBA student Angie Rai. Lukic is a 2010 winner of the Business Administration Student Society Impact Award and a former participant in the Education Generation program in Peru. Rai, a co-president of SFU Net Impact, an organization focused on sustainability and corporate social responsibility, led the successful $1-per-like Facebook campaign that raised enough funds for a drinking water well in Sierra Leone, Africa. “These students truly serve as ambassadors of the school to a much broader audience,” said Sam Thiara, Manager of Student Engagement, Beedie School of Business. “Experience Beedie is an opportunity for the school to celebrate the achievements of our student body and articulate our core values in a social media environment.” The Beedie School of Business has a lonstanding reputation for excellence in the realms of academics as well as clubs, case competitions, student exchanges and community engagement. SFU is ranked by Maclean’s Magazine as Canada’s top institution in its comprehensive category; and the Beedie School of Business consistently ranks among the Top 10 business schools in Canada in Corporate Knights Magazine’s annual surveys of undergraduate and graduate programs.
