Beedie School of Business alumni Bryan Gallagher and Matias Marquez have been named on BC Business’ prestigious 30 Under 30 list.

The BC Business 30 Under 30 celebrates the province’s top young businessmen and women who began their career paths at a very young age. They represent the province’s top young CEOs, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists who excel in their respective industries, give back to their community, and who will lead business in B.C. in the future.

Bryan Gallagher is a graduate of both the BBA and PhD programs at the Beedie School of Business, and is a successful manager, consultant, and educator focusing on Indigenous entrepreneurship and economic development.

In his PhD in Philosophy of Management, Gallagher’s research focused on how entrepreneurship can strengthen Indigenous identity and culture, and how Indigenous entrepreneurs integrate their identity and culture into their businesses.

He received numerous awards during his studies, including being selected as one of five winners from across Canada in the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Storyteller competition, for his video about his SSHRC-funded research on urban entrepreneurship and indigenous identity. He was also awarded the Dean of Graduate Studies Convocation Medal in 2015.

Matias Marquez is a BBA alumnus, and founder and COO of Buyatab, a leading supplier of eGift Cards for medium- and large-sized businesses across the globe in a wide variety of sectors, including retail, hospitality, restaurant, shopping, hotels and others.

Marquez founded Buyatab while studying for his undergraduate degree at the Beedie School of Business, during which time he was the winner of the SFU Student Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2011. He has since helped grow Buyatab to a global organization with hundreds of clients including Chilli’s, Whole Foods Market, Four Seasons, and Tim Hortons.
