Investment challenge goes virtual

The Linde Davies Investment Challenge, co-founded by SFU Beedie alumnus Emily Davies (BBA ’15), will be going ahead in an online format for 2020. The challenge offers undergraduate students an opportunity to gain experience of the investment world, while competing for a prize pool of $10,000. A group of SFU Beedie students raised $19,733 for the Canadian Cancer Society last semester, in an initiative run as part of a project management class at the school. Students enrolled in the Bus 361 Project Management class, taught by Beedie lecturer Dr. Kamal Masri, raised the funds through the 25toLife initiative, a joint project between the class and the Canadian Cancer Society. Data-savvy students from across Simon Fraser University competed in SFU Beedie School of Business’s fourth annual business analytics hackathon on November 16, 2019. The interdisciplinary competition, sponsored by Vesta Properties, brought together 26 teams of three students to compete in analyzing data and presenting their findings.
