SFU’s Beedie School of Business to welcome new MBA cohorts
Dec 14, 2023
SFU’s Beedie School of Business will welcome two new cohorts to the MBA degree programs, beginning September, 2024—an online cohort of our part-time MBA program and an early career cohort of our full-time MBA program
“We are continuing to innovate in our program design and delivery to provide students more options and flexibility to fit their needs. Students everywhere can now access our world-class programs and resources and continue their journey as future leaders,” says Sudheer Gupta, SFU Beedie professor and associate dean, graduate programs.
Early Career MBA
The Early Career MBA (EC MBA), a cohort of the Full-Time MBA program, is intended for recent university graduates with up to two years of work experience. The cohort will build new business skills on the foundation of their existing knowledge. The EC MBA will appeal to those who recently completed their undergraduate degree and wish to jumpstart their career armed with the skills employers seek.
The full-time, 16-month delivery places emphasis on experiential learning, including a four-month internship and an Applied Consulting Project. A mix of rigorous theory, intense case discussions, simulations, field visits, and multiple opportunities to work with our network of corporate and non-profit partners allows students to be well prepared to tackle complex global challenges of today and tomorrow.
Online MBA
The Online MBA is a cohort of the Part-Time MBA program. It is tailored for working professionals who wish to further their education while continuing to invest in their career. Over 24 months, Online MBA students joining our virtual global campus will gain new knowledge and perspectives they can apply immediately in the workplace.
Delivery is flexible in that it allows students to learn from anywhere, but it also offers structure and opportunities to build community. Synchronous online classes scheduled two nights a week combined with options for in-person learning and immersive experiences ensure students feel connected and supported on their MBA journey.
Students will benefit from the same dynamic instruction from our highly accomplished and renowned faculty members who instruct in person classes at our other three campuses, and achieve the same high-quality degree without a commute
Networking and career support
Like all pathways to an MBA at SFU Beedie, the EC MBA and Online MBA offer benefits beyond the classroom that contribute to career success.
Cohorts are small and personal, allowing for collaboration amongst peers with similar professional and personal goals. Events, in and outside the classroom, provide opportunities to engage with business professionals and tap into our global network of SFU Beedie graduate students and alumni. Co-curricular activities such as student clubs, case competitions, conferences, and workshops are opportunities for professional development to cultivate invaluable networks.
During their studies and beyond, students have access to SFU Beedie’s Career Management Centre. Dedicated career consultants provide comprehensive and program-specific supports, one-on-one career advising, mentorship, and networking opportunities to aid students in reaching their career goals from day one through post-graduation.
“We are pleased to offer innovative MBA delivery that meets the demands of the ever-changing business landscape and the needs of professionals at all stages of their life and career,” says SFU Beedie’s dean, Ujwal Kayande.
