SFU Graduates to Appear in CBC Program “Dragons’ Den”

Jul 08, 2008

Sliced Tomatoes, Vancouver’s first ready-to-cook meal delivery service, will be vying for investments from an illustrious panel of savvy Canadian venture capitalists on Season Three of the CBC television program “The Dragons’ Den.” The young founders of the company, Greg Lam and Hanson Ho, both 27, recently flew to Toronto for a taping of the show, to be aired as part of the public network’s fall line up this October.

“It was an incredible experience pitching our company to such an impressive group of business people,” says Hanson Ho, co-founder of Sliced Tomatoes, “Trying to sell a break-through concept in meal preparation in such a short amount of time was a challenging task.”

The impressive list of “Dragons” featured on the show in Season Three are a who’s who of the Canadian business landscape. They include: Robert Herjavec, head of the IT security firm the Herjavec Group; W. Brett Wilson, a Calgary venture capitalist; Kevin O’Leary, a successful entrepreneur-turned-TV personality; Jim Treliving, the head of Boston Pizza; and Arlene Dickinson, marketing specialist and the head of Venture Communications.

Chosen among applicants from across Canada who all want to take on the “Dragons” as partners, Lam and Ho are looking to take Sliced Tomatoes to the next level with an infusion of capital and experience. Tune into the CBC this fall to find out if they were successful in their quest through “The Dragons’ Den.”
