SFU Beedie’s two student-managed investment funds are set to become fossil-fuel-free, in line with the university’s commitment to full divestment from fossil fuels announced on November 2, 2021. The Linde Davies Investment Challenge, co-founded by SFU Beedie alumnus Emily Davies (BBA ’15), will be going ahead in an online format for 2020. The challenge offers undergraduate students an opportunity to gain experience of the investment world, while competing for a prize pool of $10,000. Three teams of undergraduate students from the Beedie School of Business have netted top twenty finishes in the Montréal Exchange Options Trading Simulation competition. Beedie undergraduate student Mitchell Wong triumphed over almost 1,500 entrants to bag the silver medal in the competition, netting $5,000 in prize money for his efforts.
