Why did you decide to pursue an MBA and what drew you to the SFU Beedie School of Business?

I had already worked in the securities affairs department for 5 years when I decided to apply for an MBA. I realized that most of my work was highly specialized, and I had reached a career bottleneck. MBA programs cover various disciplines in the business world, providing insight into what is genuinely cared about and needed by businesses. Additionally, I want to enhance my transferable skills, such as communication, leadership, and cooperation skills.

I chose Beedie because of the intimate class size and interactive teaching atmosphere. Moreover, our program is highly practical-oriented.

What has been your favourite moment or experience at Beedie so far? What are you looking forward to?

I genuinely enjoy the high-quality classes and the abundance of learning resources here. As Beedie students, we have free access to numerous industry reports written by Frost & Sullivan, IBI World, and others. Additionally, we can use the Bloomberg terminal at no extra cost. These resources are invaluable and would be expensive if acquired individually.

Moreover, I am grateful for the teachers and staff in our program. They are ready to assist whenever you need help.

I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge base, gaining a better understanding of the world and myself, and securing a fulfilling job after graduation.

How would you describe SFU Beedie’s culture?

Due to the small cohort size, Beedie is like a close-knit family. Teachers and staff are familiar with every student. Peer competition and pressure are replaced by cooperation among classmates. Our friendships have gradually deepened through attending classes, working on group projects, and participating in extracurricular activities.

At Beedie, study and job-hunting are important, but they are not the whole story. Beedie cares about our personal growth. We are encouraged to express ourselves, discover our potentials, develop good habits, and become a better version of ourselves during our MBA journey.
