Why did you decide to pursue an MBA and what drew you to the SFU Beedie School of Business?

After working in China for a Multinational Corporation and reaching my first manager role, I realized that there was room for more growth personally and professionally, I wanted to look for an MBA in order to improve upon some aspects that had the potential to make me a stronger manager. I chose SFU Beedie School of Business because of testimonies that spoke to its hands-on approach to helping its students grow and its sense of community.

What has been your favourite moment or experience at Beedie so far? What are you looking forward to?

My experience at Beedie has been great, with the highlight being practicing for the British Columbia MBA games. When I met the entire team and saw all the different aspects of competing, such as Dance, Sports, E-sports, Case Study, and Fundraising, I was initially intimidated. Still, after seeing the enthusiasm and drive of my Cohort, I knew we could do it together and hopefully win the games for SFU.

How would you describe SFU Beedie’s culture?

SFU’s culture, for me, is first and foremost about community. My favourite experience was meeting with my Cohort on our induction day. Seeing all my different classmates from a variety of countries and professional backgrounds and learning about our shared interests and hopes for the new semester. Additionally, the team experience prepping to compete in the MBA games was another key highlight. These experiences have made me feel like Beedie is a home away from home.
