Wanderlust to Wonderland? Insights into the research and management of the EU project "Global Mobility of Employees" (GLOMO)

IHRM Webinar Series - Wanderlust to Wonderland?

About this event

This webinar will present research findings from the Horizon 2020 project GLOMO and provide insights into the management of an international consortium of over 80 people from academia, politics, and business. Although labor mobility addresses the growing labor and skills shortages in many countries, expatriates encounter various challenges and barriers to their international careers. Employment prospects for expatriates are often lower than for local workers, and overqualification is widespread. As a result, expatriates’ potential for growth is currently far from being realized. To increase the efficiency and benefits of existing labor mobility for all stakeholders, the GLOMO project aimed to improve our understanding of global labor mobility at the societal (macro), organizational (meso), and individual (micro) levels. At these three levels, the 15 research sub-projects examined careers prior to expatriation, relevant international career capital, the career outcomes of expatriates, and the overall sense-making process. During this webinar, you will gain a deeper insight into the motives, goals, dynamics, and barriers to global labor mobility and international careers.
