Why did you decide to pursue a Master of Science in Finance and what drew you to the SFU Beedie School of Business?
After working in the investment management field for a couple of years, I would like to take the opportunity to further my studies in the same field to sharpen my skills in both fundamental analysis and programming. The MSc Finance program contains a balanced and carefully designed curriculum. The SIAS (Student Investment Advisory Service) fund drew my attention as it is one of the largest student-run funds in North America providing students with authentic portfolio management experience.
What has been your favourite moment or experience at Beedie so far? What are you looking forward to?
I enjoy the student life here so far. The Vancouver campus is located in a prime location of downtown Vancouver and I can easily join various networking activities with industry professionals nearby. I am amazed by the diverse backgrounds in my cohort this year and am looking forward to participating in SIAS with my talented peers.
How would you describe SFU Beedie's culture?
The culture here is open-minded and welcoming to new ideas. Participating in the lectures and learning from faculty members is fascinating and incredible. They are not only teaching you textbook knowledge but also inspiring you to think about how the business world operates. Options for further studies in academic research or working in the industry are available upon graduation. Professors are open to alternative solutions in projects and welcome students to discuss a wide range of topics including but not limited to academic research, retirement planning and property investment.
