Natasha Tsoy
Innovation and Entrepreneurship
BBA Alumnus
“SFU Beedie gave me an opportunity to shape my professional goals and define my core values.”
Natasha came to the Beedie School of Business at SFU from Sakhalin, an island off the east coast of Russia. Having travelled from afar, she opted to focus her student experience around internationalization—and through global case competitions, mentoring new international students, and helping immigrant women through social innovation, Natasha infused her SFU Beedie experience with a global theme.
My experience at SFU Beedie
My time at SFU Beedie allowed me to discover that I am passionate about community-building, learning, and making a difference through social entrepreneurship.
My Journey
Shortly after I transferred to SFU's Beedie School of Business from Fraser International College (FIC), I became a volunteer at the student-led Peer Education Program at FIC to reshape the program and better serve students.
While at SFU Beedie, I joined Enactus SFU—a global student organization that focuses on social entrepreneurship to promote positive change in the community. I became the external coordinator for the SFU Entrepreneur of the Year program which inspired me to become more involved in student entrepreneurial initiatives. With that experience, I became Operations Lead at Fusion Kitchen which helps recently landed immigrant women obtain jobs by training them to teach cultural cooking because as an international student, I knew how important it was for these women to gain transferrable skills and relevant work experience in Canada.
Aside from these entrepreneurial initiatives, I competed in the Apex Global Business-IT case competition in Singapore, the Inter-Collegiate Business Competition in Ontario, and the University of Navarra International Case Competition in Spain as well as a completed a co-op at the BC Liquor Distribution Branch.
My BBA major comprised of:
