Originally from Yugoslavia, Sasha immigrated to Canada at a young age and since arriving at SFU's Beedie School of Business, he has gone to great lengths to immerse himself in everything the school has to offer. From case competitions to co-op placements, he has made it a point to be involved in the school at virtually every level.

My experience at SFU Beedie

The flexibility SFU Beedie offers enabled me to combine my interests in my joint major in international business and economics, but also offered so much through experiential learning and opportunities to get involved. There is so much that the time passes very quickly, so it’s important to make the most of it while you can.

My Journey

During my time at SFU Beedie, I was part of the co-op program where I worked for BC Hydro's Economic and Business Development Team. This experience taught me skills in economic analysis and business case development and showed me the benefits of experiential learning.

I was also part of the SFU Beedie Intercollegiate Business Ethics Case Competition (IBECC) in 2011 which focused on the Stanley Cup riots. This turned out to be a great experience and one that I learned a lot from because the competition required teams to examine both financial and legal aspects of the case and helped me realize my interest in a law career.

I became an SFU Beedie Ambassador to spread the good word about the Beedie School of Business but this experience also taught me a different kind of learning that helped me develop a lot of skills I wouldn't learn from just sitting in the classroom.

Since graduating from SFU Beedie, I have pursued a career in law and am now an Articling Student at BTM Lawyers LLP.
