“I love that SFU has allowed me to create a tailored degree and university experience!”
MY JOURNEY
As someone interested in the intersection of law, economics and business, a business degree seemed like the ideal pathway toward a career in corporate law.
I chose to concentrate in Finance and Human Resources because they align closely with two crucial aspects of business that are relevant to corporate law: employment dynamics, and managing business assets and liabilities. I also have a minor in Philosophy and Law, which has allowed me to keep my mind engaged in different ways and explore diverse academic interests.
I love that SFU has allowed me to create a tailored degree and university experience!
MY SFU BEEDIE EXPERIENCE
Student involvement has been paramount in developing my confidence and self-understanding. Through hands-on experiences, I have developed technical skills like budgeting, event planning, and contract negotiation, alongside soft skills such as leadership, conflict management, and effective communication. Learning these skills and putting myself in new situations has allowed me to understand my working style, my personal values, and how I respond to challenges.
Beyond skill development, my involvement in extracurriculars has given me a strong sense of belonging and community at SFU.
The individuals and teams I have worked with at SFU Business Administration Student Society (BASS) have become not only colleagues but close friends, and I have been very lucky to work with such kind-hearted and hardworking people towards the shared purpose of serving our student body.
The community and friendships built through student involvement have undoubtedly enriched my university experience and provided endless opportunities for my personal and professional development.
I have gained numerous skills that I have been able to apply effectively. In BUS 393 Commercial Law, I acquired a solid understanding of contracts and verbal agreements, enabling me to negotiate effectively and advocate for the Business Administration Student Society during my term as President.
Additionally, BUS 360W Business Communications equipped me to write concisely, consider tone and audience knowledge gaps, and communicate persuasively. These skills have proven invaluable in my roles as a Consulting Researcher during my co-op and as President of my student society.

NEXT STEPS
I am currently gearing up for law school applications. I am excited to take an active role in a student organization while in law school.
Looking ahead 5-10 years, my aspiration is to pursue a career as a corporate lawyer, with a long-term goal of transitioning to an in-house legal role. I am particularly interested in corporate negotiation, business regulations, and the Canadian start-up space.
