“I want to work for companies that don’t just make a profit, but try to make a positive impact in the world, and of course, are in fashion.”
Rosa had a lifelong dream of a career in fashion. Now, thanks to her education at SFU's Beedie School of Business, Rosa is living her dream working in the fashion industry in London, England.
My experience at SFU Beedie
The friendships I made at SFU Beedie will last a long time. I knew that one day, my classmates friends and I would be calling each other from New York or Shanghai and we'd be doing amazing things. Part of that is because of our connection to the school.
My Journey
I served as the president of YWiB SFU and in this role, I really wanted to focus equally on personal growth and professional development. Being a member of YWiB connected me to many like-minded young women who shared the same enthusiasm for business.
I also had the chance to compete in a few case competitions like SFU's Peak Performance, Eller's Collegiate Ethics Case Competition in Arizona, L'Oreal's Brandstorm in Paris, and JDC West 2016 in Saskatoon.
In Paris, where I did an academic exchange at Ecole Supérieure de Commerce (ESCP Europe), I revisited my love of fashion and was approached to work with a new luxury brand startup. The values of the company really mirrored my growth as a person through business, and also as a person who is more values-based which I realized by the end of my degree.
My BBA major comprised of:
Education
Marketing
Certificate in Sustainable Community Development
Student Engagement
Young Women in Business SFU President
International exchange student
International case competitor
