Course Evaluation
BUSINESS EXCHANGE CREDIT (COURSE EVALUATION)
If you are seeking a Business exchange course evaluation (regardless of your SFU program), please first check the SFU Beedie Course Planning Database to determine if your course has been pre-evaluated for SFU course equivalencies. If your course is not found or if your course title/code has changed, please submit a new request here to the SFU Beedie School of Business. You will receive an email notification about your course evaluation from SFU Beedie on the status of your course evaluation. If your course evaluation is approved, the results will be posted on the SFU Beedie Course Planning Database.
Submit a Pre-Evaluation Request (pre-Exchange)
To request a course pre-evaluation, download the course syllabus from the host institution’s website and submit a new request on the SFU Beedie Database.
Evaluated courses in the Course Planning Database do not guarantee exchange credit, and SFU Beedie does not pre-approve exchange credit. however, SFU Beedie can pre-evaluate courses to enhance the likelihood of your courses receiving ISS exchange credit upon completion.
Your exchange course pre-approval request will take between 2-4 weeks to complete. Once processed, you will receive your results over email. See the rubric below to understand how an approved pre-approval request may be processed.

Request Official Exchange Credit from ISS (on Exchange)
Once you have completed your course registration and do not anticipate any changes (i.e., while on exchange), you can begin the process of requesting official exchange credit.
BUSINESS EXCHANGE CREDIT (AWARDING)
To receive your BUS exchange credit, please ensure you complete the evaluation procedure in Step 1 to SFU Beedie, and below steps to ISS:
- Arrange your official transcript to be sent directly by your host institution to ISS. (See the SFU Study Abroad website on how your transcript should be submitted to ISS).
- Email excredit@sfu.ca with the following information:
- Full name, SFU ID, host institution, exchange term, list of BUS courses and approved BUS credit as per the SFU Beedie Course Planning Database.
- Include any relevant details ISS should be aware of in the awarding of your exchange units (e.g. Graduation plans, enrollment requirements, etc.)
- Contact studyabroad_bsb@sfu.ca if you have any questions about your BUS course evaluation.
- Contact excredit@sfu.ca if you have any questions about the awarding of your BUS credits to your academic record
ELIGIBILITY
Not all courses are eligible for exchange credit or meet the requirements for “SFU Equivalency.” Geographical differences in terminology, course content, assessment, etc., make it critical that you evaluate the courses you wish to study before leaving on exchange.
NON- BUSINESS EXCHANGE CREDIT (COURSE EVALUATION & AWARDING)
If you are seeking a Non-Business exchange course evaluation (regardless of your SFU program), please follow the full instructions on how to submit your syllabus and other documentation to ISS via excredit@sfu.ca. ISS will follow up with you about your exchange credit processing including the awarding of exchange unit to your academic record.
BUSINESS COURSE EVALUATION IS NOT APPROVED (NEXT STEPS)
If you have received notification that your Business course evaluation was not approved, please visit the ISS Exchange Credit page for the most updated information on what to do next.
