Why did you decide to pursue a Master of Science in Finance and what drew you to the SFU Beedie School of Business?

A keen interest and strong background in the financial industry and my experience with KPMG led me to pursue my dream of working in investment banking. During my very first year of working in KPMG, I took up the course of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). I was able to successfully complete CFA level 1 out of the three levels. SFU Beedie has a diverse and vibrant environment and provides exposure to one of the leading financial markets in the world. The school provides a great learning opportunity of managing the Student Investment Advisory Service (SIAS) Fund, which is Canada’s largest student-run investment fund and one of the largest funds in North America.

What has been your favourite moment or experience at Beedie so far? What are you looking forward to?

SFU offers not only academic excellence, but it also provides ample opportunities to participate in various fun and interesting events. One such event was a welcome event, where a virtual escape room was organized for the 2021 & 2020 cohorts. It was a great ice-breaker session and provided us with a great opportunity to network with various people. These events have been some of the best moments so far in my journey here at SFU. I am looking forward to meeting new people from various background and learn in the process. I am eagerly waiting to take part in SIAS and various case competitions and represent SFU and keep up the legacy of SFU students’ performance in these case competitions passed on to us by previous cohorts.

SFU Beedie provides a welcoming, nurturing and yet competitive environment. Here at SFU one always feels empowered through the various opportunities presented to show case or hone your talent. It provides the perfect environment to students, helping them to become industry-ready financial professionals. Students are not only provided with knowledge of the industry, but they are also trained to inculcate the necessary skill set required in the industry. Students are offered immense opportunity to build valuable networks and excel in their respective chosen path.
