Undergraduate Business Program

The University has three types of admission requirements, which must be fulfilled in order to gain admission to SFU. These include:

• Quantitative and analytical skills requirements
• English language and literacy requirements
• Academic requirements based on previous schooling

In addition, the Beedie School of Business has two admission requirements which must be fulfilled in order to gain admission to SFU.  These include:

• A competitive admission average based on specific high school courses
• Broad based admissions form

If you experience difficulty filling out the application form, contact SFU Admissions at gosfu@sfu.ca. Once your application is complete, you will receive your permanent SFU student number (i.e. 3011....).

Admission decisions are based on a combination of a student’s academic performance and an assessment of their broad based admissions form. Successful applicants will have strong academic performance and overall leadership and achievement. 

Students should have demonstrated experience in one or more of the following extra-curricular areas:  entrepreneurship, athletics, arts (performing, visual, music, and writing), community leadership and/or involvement, work experience or other areas.

Applicants must have an interim admission average of 83% or higher and meet the university admission requirements to qualify.

Major Entrance Scholarship applicants are not required to submit the broad based admissions form.

After completing the broad based admissions form, applicants will be redirected to a secure site and asked to pay the $75 broad based admissions application fee.

Application deadlines for broad based admissions:

Fall Term (classes begin in September): March 15  

Summer Term (classes begin in May): January 31

Spring Term (classes begin in January): September 30

Canadian Grade 12 students can self-report their grades online until the middle of April for Fall admission. Doing so may enable SFU to make you and early offer of admission.  It is recommended students applying for Business, self report their grades before the Broad Based Admissions application form deadline.
