Application Process

The Segal Graduate School is the home of our part-time MOT MBA program where we have an average cohort of 44 brilliant and ambitious students who want to make a positive impact on business, tech and society. Are you ready to join our SFU Beedie community of changemakers?

2024 Application Deadlines

  • Round 1: December 11, 2023
  • Round 2: February 23, 2024
  • Round 3: April 26, 2024
  • Final Round: June 3, 2024

Please keep in mind that we process applications on a rolling basis, and both admissions and scholarship decisions are handed out between application deadlines. You do not need to wait for a deadline to apply.

  1. Create an account

    In this step, you'll need to create an account within our application system. Once your account is created, you can save your application progress and continue where you left off.

  2. Ad referee contact information
    Provide contact information for three professional references. When entering your referees' information, you must use their professional or institutional email address.
  3. Pay application fee
    The application fee is $110 CAN (students with Canadian transcripts) or $150 CAN (students with international transcripts).

A complete resume showing employment, volunteer activities, education and other appropriate information.

Unofficial Transcripts

To assess your application, we require digital copies of your unofficial/official transcripts of each post-secondary institution you attended.

Official transcripts are required, if you are admitted to the program. See post-admission below for further instructions.

Proof of Residency

One of the following:

  • Canadian Passport - Passports must include a signed signature page in order to be valid for ID purposes.
  • Canadian Permanent Resident Card
  • Confirmation of Permanent Residence document*
  • Canadian Birth Certificate*
  • Canadian Citizenship Certificate*

*Must be presented with valid Canadian government-issued photo ID.

Entered in step 2, after creating your account.

Complete Essay/Personal Reflection

Essay prompts are provided in the application system, after you pay your application fee.

  • We begin reviewing applications for interview consideration as soon as we have received all application components
  • Shortlisted candidates will receive an invitation to interview within 2 weeks of application completion
  • Interviews are conducted online and last 45 mins

ADMISSION DECISION

After the admissions interview, candidates will receive a decision within 2-3 weeks.

UPON ACCEPTANCE

Within 21 days of receiving your acceptance letter, a non-refundable deposit of $1,000 CDN must be submitted.This deposit reserves your seat in the MOT MBA program, and will be applied towards your tuition.

Graduate students can pay by credit card through the graduate student online application system, or use one of the other methods listed on the page.

POST-ADMISSION

Request of Official Transcripts

  • Official transcripts for credit courses from the Registrar of each post-secondary institution you attended must be sent directly from the institution to Segal Graduate School of Business. If the transcripts are issued to you, they must be signed and sealed by your post-secondary institution.
  • If your transcripts are not in English, an official translation must be supplied. An official translator must include, as part of their translation, a declaration that they received an official, sealed copy of the transcripts that they then proceeded to translate.
  • Transcripts may be sent electronically via a secure delivery service, such as Parchment, or directly from official institutional email addresses to gradap@sfu.ca. Otherwise, please arrange to have your transcript sent to the following address:

    Please note that each transcript is subject to review prior to acceptance.

  • Applicants who completed their former degrees at SFU are not required to submit an official SFU transcript.
