SFU’s Beedie School of Business is where you want to study to gain the experience, knowledge, and skills that will give you a career advantage. This is the moment you put your plan into action and start your application.

This application is for you if:

  • You are a secondary student completing your studies in the upcoming year or;
  • You previously graduated from a secondary school and have not completed more than 24 units of transferrable academic work at another post-secondary institution.

REQUIREMENTS

SFU General Admission Requirements for British Columbia High School Students

In addition to fulfilling the requirements for admission to SFU, you must also meet the specific admission requirements for the Beedie School of Business. Please review the requirements below, organized by year, to determine which requirements apply to you.

Fall 2019 & Spring 2020

IMPORTANT NEWS: Changes are coming to the SFU and Beedie School of Business admissions requirements beginning in the Fall of 2019.

Secondary school applicants are competitively selected for admission in the fall and spring terms (only) by:

  • Meeting SFU’s literacy, language, and quantitative requirements
  • Demonstrating strong academic performance on all approved courses
  • Review of Supplemental Application

Required Grade 11 courses:

  • English 11
  • Science 11
  • Language 11
  • Foundations of Math 11 or Pre-Calculus 11(min 60%)

English 12 with a minimum final blended grade of 70%

Minimum of 5 Grade 12 courses, including English 12, from SFU's approved course list

Required Grade 11 course categories:

  • English 11
  • Language 11
  • Math 11
  • Science 11
  • Social Studies 11 

English Studies 12 with a minimum final blended grade of 70%.

Minimum of 5 Grade 12 courses, including English Studies 12, Pre-Calculus 12, and three additional courses from the SFU Beedie approved course list.

Admission is based on an evaluation of all approved Grade 11 and 12 courses, with greater emphasis on List A courses.

Supplemental Application

You worked hard for your grades, but we know you are more than numbers on a page. The Supplemental Application brings to life your experiences and personality. It is your chance to share with us a complete picture of who you are and why a Beedie education is right for you

Marks matter, but so do your experiences, achievements and communication style.

What to Expect

  • A short answer essay question that reveals more about who you are and demonstrates your communication skills
  • A place to describe your extra-curricular activities. From athletics and artistic pursuits to volunteer work and community involvement – tell us about your interests and what makes you unique
  • A request for two references. One must be a school counsellor or teacher, and both should be able to speak to your character, achievements and extracurricular activities
  • Something you want to share that doesn’t fit into the options above? We have a space for that!
  • Already applied to Beedie? Tell us what you’ve accomplished since your previous application.
  • Payment of the Supplemental Application fee
  • Learn what makes a successful applicant

Choose the Beedie School of Business as your 1st Choice! Only students who list the Beedie School of Business as their first choice will be evaluated for admission to the Beedie School of Business. Your 2nd choice must be a program other than the Beedie School of Business

How to apply to SFU

Activate your Account

You will receive an email with your 9-digit Student Number (User ID Number) and password. Use these to sign in to your Student Account via the Student Information System (SIS) to activate your account

Submit your Supplemental Application

Admission to the Beedie School of Business is based on a combination of your academic performance and an assessment of your Supplemental Application*.

You can access your Supplemental Application 24-hours after you receive your SFU 9-digit Student Number (User ID Number) in Step 2.

There is a fee of $81.18 CAD to submit your application that can be paid online at the time you submit your Supplemental Application.

*Fall applicants via Entrance Scholarship

Beedie School of Business Fall applicants with a complete and eligible Entrance Scholarship application (including all transcripts, references and any additional documents required for admission) are not required to submit the Supplemental Application. Refer to SFU Financial Aid and Awards for details on the application process and requirements.

Sign in to your Student Account online to check the status of your application. Upon admission to SFU, you will be issued a formal letter confirming your offer.
